AccessData technology users already familiar with the Ultimate Toolkit suite of technology have the opportunity to attend the Forensic Toolkit version 2.0 Transition Day to come up to speed on the new functionalities, user interface changes and underlying technology advancements of the new Forensic Toolkit.

This day long, hands-on intensive course will expose attendees to:
  • Using the new "QuickPicks" functionality to enhance file listing.
  • Creating filters with the newly enhanced File Filter Manager (FFM) - to include nested filters as rules, filtering on file system attributes and more.
  • Configuring new GUI interface modes with user defined TABs, docking panes, thumbnail resizing and more.
  • Using the new Content View pane to play videos and examine Unicode character set information.
  • Creating bookmarks with the new bookmark manager - to include nested bookmarks, new comment fields, multiple file position markers, dragging and dropping and more.
  • Implementing new cases searches (text / hex / pattern / live).
  • Using the new report wizard to develop drag and drop report fields, new sort fields and new thumbnail and bookmark enhancements.
  • Working with the new Known File Filter and KFF Manager to narrow the focus of an investigation using hash sets.
  • Decrypting files and file-system encryption from within FTK.

In addition to learning new features, differences between FTK 1.x and 2.x will be discussed. Topics discussed include:

  • Simultaneous multiple user case access
  • User defined permissions and case access
  • The use of the relational Oracle database
  • Multi-threaded processing for immediate data access
  • Upcoming distributed client/server architecture for case analysis
